I'm not a doctor. This post is a personal experience with information that could be very useful.
Let me walk you through the ridiculous supplement journey I’ve been on since I made the fatal error of following #WellnessTok. Pour yourself another coffee (or tequila, no judgment here), and let’s unpack this mess together.
You know the vibe: you’re doom-scrolling at midnight, and suddenly some girl with impossibly dewy skin and a kitchen that looks like a Pinterest board is holding a tiny spoon of green powder and whispering:
“This changed my life. My gut, my skin, my soul — all healed.”
Next thing you know, you’ve added 7 things to your Amazon cart and convinced yourself that you’re going to wake up glowing like a glazed donut with the energy of a toddler on espresso.
Fast forward three months and now I have a drawer no, a cabinet full of supplements I take (almost) daily and really works.
Here’s the lineup.
Magnesium Glycinate
What it does: Helps with sleep, anxiety, muscle recovery, and general vibes.
My experience:
This one? Not a scam. I take it at night and I swear I fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling less like I got hit by a metaphorical truck.
Would I recommend it?
Yes. Especially if your brain is like a browser with 47 tabs open and one is playing music but you can’t find it.
Chlorophyll Drops
What it does: Natural deodorant, acne-fighter, and detox queen.
My experience:
Tastes like a salad. A very hydrated salad. My breath didn’t smell like minty rainbows, but my skin did calm down a little. Also made me feel weirdly fancy.
Would I recommend it?
If you want to feel like a holistic mermaid — sure. But don’t expect it to erase your hangover or ex-boyfriend trauma.
Ashwagandha
Why I bought it: Because every soft-voiced wellness girl was like, “It lowers cortisol, so you stop being stressed and your body stops thinking it’s 2025”
What it does: Reduces stress and anxiety, balances hormones, makes you chill like a stoned yoga instructor.
My experience:
I took it for a week and had the chillest brain fog of my life. Like I didn’t care about anything — including my inbox. But maybe I was too chill?
Would I recommend it?
Yes — if you’re on the verge of setting your laptop on fire.
No — if you already struggle with low energy and need more pep than peace.
Lion’s Mane Mushroom
Why I bought it: Some guy with a podcast mic and a deep voice said it would “optimize my brain” and make me a productivity goddess.
What it does: Boosts focus, memory, and overall brain function.
My experience:
Did I suddenly become a genius? No. But I did write various blog post (including this one, remember my passwords for once, and do my laundry Placebo? Maybe. But I’m vibing.
Would I recommend it?
Yes — especially if you want to cosplay as someone who reads research papers for fun.
L-Glutamine
What it does: Supports gut lining, improves digestion, reduces sugar cravings, and helps muscle recovery.
My experience:
Surprisingly legit. I don’t crave sweets as aggressively and my jeans fit better by 4PM, which is a miracle. Also weirdly makes me feel like I take care of myself.
Would I recommend it?
Yes — if your gut is dramatic and craves attention like mine.
Collagen Powder
What it does: Promotes skin elasticity, hair growth, joint health, and makes you age backwards.
My experience:
Takes a while to notice anything, but after 3 weeks my nails were growing like weeds and my skin was less meh. I mix it in coffee and can’t taste it, which feels like a win.
Would I recommend it?
Yes — but be patient.
Berberine
When #Berberine started trending as “nature’s Ozempic,” I practically threw my credit card at the screen. Never mind that I don’t need Ozempic. TikTok said this yellow powder would regulate my blood sugar, help me lose weight, and basically biohack my metabolism into submission.
The first day I took it, I spent so much time in the bathroom I brought my laptop in there to finish my work. Nobody warns you about this charming side effect in those aesthetically pleasing TikToks filmed in minimalist kitchens.
I’ve stuck with it though, because someone with 347K followers can’t be wrong, right? RIGHT?
Is My Vitamin Stack Making Me Immortal?
No. I still get bloated, tired, and cranky if I don’t sleep, drink too much wine, or eat three pieces of sourdough bread at 11PM.
But you know what? Some of this stuff actually helps. Or at the very least, it makes me feel like I’m doing something good for myself — which honestly counts for a lot these days.
So yeah, maybe TikTok tricked me into becoming a supplement girlie. But I regret nothing.
My skin is glowing, my anxiety is manageable, and my cabinet looks like a wellness aisle exploded. And if that’s not self-care in 2025, I don’t know what is.
